Hello. I wanted to share my story in hopes other people will stay on their meds like me. I have been hospitalized 7 times in my life and had 7 episodes since I was 16 years old I am now 32. I had gotten off meds each time after taking them so long for financial or other reasons. Now I have stayed on meds for two years and have had only a two slight episodes but did not go to the hospital. I just followed up my with psychiatrist and he got me in quick enough and they monitored my condition closely. The key also I say is to not miss any appointments if possible. I know this can be hard if you have transportation problems or get sick but it is critical you stay with your doctor and take the meds. I am a psychology student now for two years graduating soon with my Associate's. Doing that has given me a new hope and persceptive on what is going on with me and how important is it to always take the meds no matter what. I have schizoaffective bipolar type disorder since 2009. I had bipolar disorder from 2001 to 2009. My dr has deemed me mentally disabled but I still feel good like I can go back to work now because medicine is doing wonders. This new drug he put me on has no weight gain side effects in face I am losing weight! I admit though my appetite is low right now which is bad. So I have to get my desire for food back somehow. Maybe he can reduce the meds in the future or tell me how to not keep losing weight. For now, I keep motivation and stay focused! If my mind wonders I stay busy on the computer or reading or meditating. What I can do to stay well. If anyone needs some encouragement please send me a message on Facebook and I will chat with you anytime. I will then send you my email too. Best wishes to everyone's health! ~Lucinda
